Boating & Fishing

Fishing the Emerald Coast
The Emerald Coast, which includes Destin, Fort Walton Beach and Okaloosa Island, has some of the best fishing in Florida, thanks to the area's easy access to the deeper areas of the Gulf of Mexico.

Casting from Kayaks on Captiva
We were floating in Pine Island Sound, and only a narrow stretch of Captiva Island separated us from the Gulf of Mexico. Dolphins danced around my son and I while my fishing-partner-turned-fiance reeled in a 20-pound snook from his kayak over in the shallows, not far from our room at the 'Tween Waters Inn.

Water Links
The waters of Martin County bridge past and present, creating a perfect playground for lovers of history, culture, nature and, of course, anything on the water. Go deep sea fishing, cast from a tree-lined river, explore old shipwrecks while diving and enjoy exciting watersports on Florida's Treasure Coast.

Fishing Key West
The Conchs credit "Papa" Hemingway with establishing this island in the stream as a world-class fishing destination. Learn about charter boat options and the best time of the year to hook into your favorite game fish. After a long day fishing, be sure to visit the celebrated Key West author's favorite watering hole.

Fort Lauderdale, It's Quite the Catch
Sure, deluxe mega-yachts and worth-more-millions-than-you-can-count mansions line the canals that crisscross Fort Lauderdale, but take a closer look and you'll see that more than money pours into these waterways. There's fish, too. Find them on your own or on a fishing charter.
